How do I specify Suntuitive Dynamic Glass?
Suntuitive Dynamic Glass consists of an interlayer that is laminated between two pieces of heat strengthened or tempered glass and placed into an insulated glass unit (IGU) with a low emissivity coating. A warm edge spacer is also recommended. Suntuitive Dynamic Glass can be used in standard laminate IGUs, double laminate IGUs, or triple pane IGUs with an overall thickness of ¾” or greater. How durable is Suntuitive Dynamic Glass?
We are committed to long-term durability in addition to continuous and vigorous internal testing, Suntuitive interlayer has:

How does Suntuitive Dynamic Glass work?
Suntuitive Dynamic Glass consists of an extruded polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayer with thermochromic properties. The thermochromic glass lightens and darkens in response to heat from direct sunlight and requires no mechanical or electrical intervention. What does Suntuitive look like from the outside?
In a clear state, Suntuitive Dynamic Glass appears the same as traditional glass. As it tints, Suntuitive Dynamic Glass will appear dark gray from the exterior. Looking through Suntuitive Dynamic Glass is similar to wearing sunglasses, while the sunglasses appear dark from the outside, they are easy to see through from the inside.
How quickly does Suntuitive Dynamic Glass tint?
Suntuitive Dynamic Glass will fully tint after 20-30 minutes of exposure to direct sunlight. Likewise, it will take 20-30 minutes for the glass to return to the clear state.
What is the technical performance of a Suntuitive window system?
Glass performance is based on the construction of the glazing package with Suntuitive Dynamic Glass. A one-inch overall clear Suntuitive Dynamic Glass construction with a high-performance Low-e coating will have a visible light transmission range of 54% – 8% and a solar heat gain range of 0.36 – 0.16. At what temperature does Suntuitive start to tint?
While continuously variable, the most active range of Suntuitive is when IGU pane temperatures are 77°F (25°C) to 150°F (65°C). Structures that are subjected to abundant and direct sunlight will especially reap the benefits of Suntuitive Dynamic Glass. In the United States, this includes East, South, and West-facing facades that receive direct sunlight during the day.
What are the average energy savings of Suntuitive Dynamic Glass?
Based on a study at Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory (LBNL), using Suntuitive Dynamic Glass provides annual energy savings of 20-43%. The greater the window area, the greater the energy savings. Will Suntuitive get too dark during peak sun hours?
No, Suntuitive Dynamic Glass provides more consistent daylighting throughout the day and balance what would normally be a spike in illuminance that traditional glass lets in (causing excessive heat and glare). During times of peak sun exposure, when Suntuitive Dynamic Glass will have its lowest visible light transmission, it is still letting in the highest amount of daylight.
Will Suntuitive Dynamic Glass tint on a cold sunny day?
Suntuitive Dynamic Glass is designed to balance solar heat gain and visible light transmittance for the majority of climates and provide as much daylighting as possible while blocking solar heat gain. Since the technology is thermally activated, it is minimally affected by exterior temperatures, wind, and sun angle. On cooler days, Suntuitive will still tint, however, may not tint as dark to allow in passive solar heat.
What if my building is surrounded by other buildings?
In the presence of direct sunlight, Suntuitive Dynamic Glass will tint. If part of a Suntuitive Dynamic Glass pane is in the shade, it will remain clear to allow in as much daylight as possible.
Does Suntuitive Dynamic Glass meet Title 24 standards?

How many tint levels are there in Suntuitive?
Since Suntuitive Dynamic Glass responds to heat from direct sunlight, the tinting is continuously variable and there are infinite levels of tinting within the range of the sun’s heat.
What happens if a Suntuitive Dynamic Glass pane gets broken?
Because of Suntuitive Dynamic Glass’s laminated construction, the glass will not shatter and will continue to tint in the presence of direct sunlight. You can keep using your broken window until a replacement IGU can be ordered.
What happens when a building has a power outage?
Suntuitive Dynamic Glass will continue to function normally and tint in the presence of direct sunlight even if the building loses power.
