WORLD’S MOST ADOPTED
DYNAMIC GLASS
TECHNOLOGY.
Who we are.
Pleotint LLC is a glass fabrication and innovation company, located in Michigan, USA. Consisting of Research & Development, a glass fabrication division, and interlayer extrusion, Pleotint fabricates high-quality laminated glass, insulated glass units as well as our innovative Suntuitive Dynamic Glass.
Through our manufacturing plant we supply insulated glass units, traditional as well as insulated dynamic glass units, to customers throughout the US.
World leader in Dynamic Glass
Through a large international network of certified glass fabricators, we can offer Suntuitive Dynamic Glass technology as a locally finished glass product worldwide. Suntuitive Dynamic Glass Technology is based on thermochromic elements embedded in our proprietary PVB interlayer. We provide our certified partners with Suntuitive Interlayer, which will then be locally laminated and used in Dynamic IGUs. This means that you work with your local, trusted fabricator. On top of that; producing the finished Dynamic IGU locally is also much more sustainable than shipping containers of glass around the world
How we got started – The Harlan Byker Story
Pleotint founder and CEO, Dr. Harlan Byker is the world’s foremost expert on thermochromism. He and his research and development team have assembled an unprecedented level of knowledge and experience related to the science and commercial usability of thermochromics. Harlan holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry and was previously a vice president and board member of Gentex Corporation. Prior to Gentex, Harlan was a research scientist at Battelle Columbus Laboratories.
Harlan is an inventor and/or co-inventor on 53 US patents and he invented the chemistry portion of the first commercially successful electrochromic device, an automatic dimming rear view mirror for motor vehicles. Over 230 million of these mirrors have been sold, and more than 10% of all vehicles built in the world today incorporate one or more electrochromic mirrors with the chemistry he invented.
The idea for a self-tinting dynamic glass with no wires came to Harlan one day while he was waiting for a meeting to start. He sat in a well-lit but over heated conference room. There had to be an alternative to covering the windows and shutting the light out, and Harlan thought he could make a product that didn’t require wiring or controls.
From this idea, Suntuitive Dynamic Glass was born.
Our commitment to the industry.
We are dedicated to providing customers with brilliant and dynamic glass technologies that increase building efficiency and optimize comfort.
